NASA's ERNEST rover prototype drove 16 miles in 37 hours during desert testing, reaching 0.6mph. It is 10 times faster than Curiosity or Perseverance, which max out at 0.06mph. The rover uses mesh wheels and active suspension with two powered joints per wheel to climb obstacles and switch between squirming, wheel-walking, and passive modes.
