China Opens Pinglu Canal, Cuts 560 km Route

China has opened the 134.2 km Pinglu canal, a USD 10.75 billion waterway linking Nanning to the Beibu Gulf. The project cuts over 560 km off the older sea route and is expected to lower logistics costs by 18 to 30 percent.
