The European Union now requires every new passenger vehicle sold in the bloc to include an eye-tracking driver-monitoring system as of July 7. The system triggers visual and acoustic warnings if the driver looks away for more than 3.5 seconds at higher speeds. The US is expected to mandate similar systems by 2027.
