72% of US teens tried AI companions in 2025

A 2025 survey of 1,060 US teens found 72% had tried an AI companion at least once and 52% used one regularly. A third of users reported discussing a serious issue with a bot instead of a person. Among those, 31% said the conversation was as satisfying or more so than talking to a real friend.
