Meta appointed Kunal Shah as global CEO of WhatsApp, succeeding Will Cathcart, who led the app since 2019. Meta also invested $900 million in Shah's fintech startup CRED, valuing it at around $4.5 billion. WhatsApp has over 3 billion users but contributes less than 2% of Meta's revenue.
