Apple recommends disabling Find My before selling, giving away, trading in, or repairing an iPhone. Turning it off disables Activation Lock, reducing security. Factory reset via Settings automatically disables it; manual disable requires turning off Stolen Device Protection, default since iOS 26.4. Never disable after loss.
