Cloudflare shrinks cache with Zstandard in Pingora

Cloudflare prototyped Cache Transcoding, encoding eligible cache assets with Zstandard inside Pingora to shrink them to one-third their original size on average. The trade trades a small CPU increase for petabytes of effective cache capacity and reduced cross-data center bandwidth. The prototype transcodes compressible text at or above 4 KiB.
