Japan Builds 600km Quantum Network

Toshiba, NEC, and NTT Docomo Business are building a 600-kilometer quantum-encrypted network connecting Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. Supported by Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and NICT, the project aims to demonstrate quantum key distribution for high-security applications in healthcare, finance, and electrical grid infrastructure, with broader social implementation targeted for around 2030.
