Apple Ordered to Pay $5.7B in Haptics Patent Case

A San Diego federal jury found Apple infringed two Taction Technology haptics patents and awarded over $5.7 billion in damages. Taction sued in 2021 over Apple's Taptic Engine in iPhones and Apple Watches. Apple says it does not use Taction's technology and will appeal. The verdict, returned Friday after two days of deliberation, is among the largest patent awards against Apple.
