AI adoption at work is broad but shallow

Generative AI reaches 80% of occupations and over 40% of tasks, but adoption is shallow: fewer than half of workers use it in most occupations. As of May 2026, 45% of US adults use GenAI for work, and 55% for non-work reasons.
