AI data center power requests top 700 GW

AI data center electricity requests across the U.S. exceed 700 gigawatts, more than 10 times current industry consumption estimates. Regulators in Texas and elsewhere are auditing queues to separate credible projects from speculative ones, as utilities struggle to build infrastructure fast enough.
