OpenAI reveals its first AI processor: Jalapeño

OpenAI and Broadcom revealed Jalapeño, a custom ASIC for AI inference designed to power ChatGPT and Codex. The chip matches Nvidia Blackwell and Google TPU performance. Engineering samples already run GPT-5.3-Codex-Spark workloads. Global rollout is expected in 2027.
