AWS halts new Mechanical Turk sign-ups

Amazon Web Services has stopped accepting new customers for its Mechanical Turk crowdsourcing marketplace, effectively ending the service that launched in 2005. The move predates AWS's public cloud infrastructure business by a year and signals the end of the pioneering gig platform.
