Moonshot AI unveils Kimi K3 open model

Chinese startup Moonshot AI unveiled Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter open-weight AI model, on July 16. The sparse mixture-of-experts system activates roughly 50 billion parameters per token and carries a 1-million-token context window. Moonshot claims K3 achieves roughly 2.5 times better scaling efficiency than Kimi K2. Weights will be released on July 27.
