Apple is bringing age verification to Texas this week

Apple requires new accounts in Texas to verify age over 18. Users under 18 need parental consent for app downloads or updates. The law SB 2420 took effect on June 4, 2026. Apple faced lobbying from CEO Tim Cook to block the bill. The law was signed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott in May 2026.
