Zhipu founder argues for open AI models

Zhipu founder Tang Jie argued in an internal memo that frontier AI should remain broadly accessible, not controlled by a few. He released GLM-5.2 under an open-source license. The comments come as Beijing considers restricting overseas access to China's most advanced open models.
