US Accuses Moonshot AI of Stealing Anthropic Tech

The White House accused Moonshot AI of covertly distilling Anthropic's Fable AI model to develop Kimi K3, which launched July 16. OSTP Director Michael Kratsios alleged the firm built an internal platform for large-scale distillation evading detection. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned such IP theft could trigger sanctions and Entity List designations.
