Anthropic Releases Claude Opus 5.5, Cuts Costs

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5, its first model since CEO Dario Amodei urged pacing frontier AI. It matches Fable 5.1 on most tasks while costing 40% less than Opus 5, at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output, and runs over 30% faster. It adds safeguards against sandbox escapes and is now default in Claude Code and the Claude app.
