Steam Machine review: small cube, big tradeoffs

Valve's Steam Machine is a 6-inch cube that starts at $1,049 with a 512GB model and $1,428 for the top-end 2TB version with a Steam Controller. It runs quietly, fits easily on a TV console or desk, and supports SteamOS, cloud saves, and the Steam Controller. However, it competes with six-year-old console hardware, cannot upgrade its GPU, and is tested for 1080p gaming.
