Google has launched fake call detection for Android 12 and above starting with Pixel devices. The feature detects AI deepfake voices that impersonate family members or employers to deceive users. It is rolling out globally in Phone by Google and will begin in Android 17 later this month. According to Google, impersonation fraud is one of the most common types of phone scams. Users may receive calls showing trusted caller IDs like 'Mom' with voices that sound identical to real people but are actually AI-generated.
