Microsoft Patch Tuesday tops 974 bugs, two exploited

Microsoft's September Patch Tuesday fixed at least 974 vulnerabilities, its largest batch ever, including two actively exploited zero-days, CVE-2026-81963 and CVE-2026-85880. The year's total exceeds 2,600, more than double 2020's record, with 113 critical flaws and federal patch deadlines set for September 22.
