IBM announced the first test chip using its 0.7nm-class fabrication process, the industry's first sub-1nm technology. The nanostack transistor architecture places transistors vertically, enabling up to 50% higher performance and 70% greater energy efficiency over its 2nm node. The chip holds nearly 100 billion transistors on a fingernail-sized surface.
