Hackers hijack Instagram accounts using Meta AI chatbot

Meta's AI support assistant has been exploited by hackers to hijack Instagram accounts including the inactive White House handle and U.S. Space Force chief master sergeant John's account. The attack occurred over the weekend when users on Reddit and X reported compromised accounts. Security researchers found the AI tool enabled hackers to bypass two-factor authentication. Meta previously promised the assistant would simplify account recovery. The exploit was flagged by security researchers in December following the AI's launch.
