Author Dave Eggers told roughly 200 OpenAI staffers at the company's Bay Area headquarters that ChatGPT has a catastrophic effect on educators' lives and is silencing an entire generation by stealing students' ability to write and tell their own stories. Eggers was invited after criticizing CEO Sam Altman for praising an AI-generated short story.
