Australia's federal health department warned AI scribes used by doctors have little oversight, citing risks to patient privacy, consent, and data security. Use among Australian doctors nearly doubled from 22% in August 2024 to 40% in November 2025. The TGA is reviewing whether to classify them as medical devices.
