John Ternus will become Apple CEO on September 1, succeeding Tim Cook, who steps down but remains executive chairman. Ternus joined Apple in 2001, led hardware engineering since 2013, and oversaw AirPods, Mac, iPad, and iPhone development. The transition precedes new iPhone 18 Pro models and Apple's first foldable iPhone.
