Sony plans to stop producing physical PlayStation discs by 2028, converting factories away from disc-making. Circana data shows only 7 PlayStation games sold over 100,000 physical discs in the US in 2026, with 85% of PlayStation sales already digital. Sony will not lower game prices despite cutting retail and production costs.
