EU plans MiCA revision for stablecoins

European Union officials plan to revise the Markets in Crypto-Assets framework, dubbed "MiCA 2.0," in response to the US GENIUS Act on stablecoins. The revision, considered in 2027, will broaden rules for non-EU stablecoin issuers and add rules on tokenized payments and deposits. Comments are open until August 31.
