Toyota to Build Next-Gen Hybrid Batteries by 2027

Toyota will convert Japanese battery lines to build next-generation hybrid lithium-ion packs starting in 2027, with capacity for roughly 600,000 vehicles. The automaker expects global hybrid sales to top five million units this year, and the new cells will cut costs by tens of thousands of yen per vehicle.
