Meta quits RE100, funds gas plants for AI data centers

Meta has withdrawn from the RE100 renewable energy initiative after funding multiple gas-fired power plants, including seven plants totaling over 5.2 GW in Louisiana. The company says it still matches 100% of annual electricity use with clean energy but no longer meets RE100's technical criteria.
