India Orders Takedown of Mesh Messaging Apps

India's Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) ordered Google, Apple, and GitHub to remove BitChat, Briar, and Bridgefy, citing their use in anonymous communication during protests. Officials later orally instructed companies not to enforce the takedown directions.
