CERN Moves Accelerator Controls to Debian

CERN is migrating its accelerator-control infrastructure from Red Hat-based systems to Debian 13, targeting completion by the fourth quarter of 2026. The move affects over 2,200 front-end computers and 17,000 embedded devices, driven by Red Hat's x86-64-v2 and v3 microarchitecture requirements that would obsolete older hardware.
