OpenAI has proposed giving the US government a 5% equity stake worth roughly $42.6 billion. The Trump administration and Anthropic have not discussed a government stake in Anthropic, according to an unnamed source. The proposed structure would donate shares into a public wealth fund modeled on Alaska's Permanent Fund.
