Hassabis proposes US AI standards body

Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis proposed a new US standards body modeled after FINRA to govern advanced AI. The agency would develop evaluation protocols for frontier models, starting voluntarily and later becoming mandatory, funded by industry with regularly updated benchmarks. Non-frontier models from startups or academic research would be exempt.
