Samsung Shifts DDI Sourcing to GlobalFoundries

Samsung plans to source display driver chips from GlobalFoundries to avoid future bottlenecks after UMC refused additional orders due to full 22nm capacity. This shift aims to prevent the 10% production cuts seen in September 2026 that impacted Galaxy Z Fold 8 sales and revenue. Galaxy A series phones expected to use new chips by end of 2027.
