Waymo partners with Toyota for 2027 Japan launch

Waymo selects the Toyota bZ4X as its next robotaxi, with a custom Japanese-built version starting operations in 2027. Toyota will manufacture the vehicles at its Takaoka plant, integrating Waymo Driver hardware directly on the assembly line rather than retrofitting existing cars. Hyundai supplies 50,000 Ioniq 5 robotaxis by 2028.
