Solana Alpenglow Upgrade Goes Live Wednesday

Solana launches its Alpenglow network upgrade on Wednesday, replacing the voting system used since 2020. The update reduces transaction finality to about 150 milliseconds from roughly six seconds and cuts validator costs by about 60 percent. The switch activates at slot 459,653,000 after six test-network restarts and a failed migration.
