A developer has announced Metacarp, a new compiler for the Carp programming language written in Carp itself. It compiles the reference suite, compiles itself, and produces byte-identical C output. The compiler is split into independent libraries, features a second LLVM backend, and supports incremental compilation into a running JIT. It is not yet a complete drop-in replacement.
