University of Cambridge built TESSERA, a planetary-scale foundation model trained on 16 AMD Instinct MI300X GPUs using 6,200 GPU-hours. The model ingests Sentinel satellite imagery to create 128-number fingerprints for every 10-meter land square. TESSERA runs on Vultr bare-metal servers with AMD MI325X GPUs, producing three terabytes of compressed data daily.
