India Approves Nepal's Electricity Import Request

India has approved Nepal's request for advance electricity import approvals, allowing Nepal to import around 654 MW of peak electricity during non-solar hours. The approval comes as Nepal's generation capacity fell by about 550 MW due to flash floods that damaged power facilities. India is facing unusual domestic power demands due to weather and irrigation needs, with peak demand exceeding 260 GW.
