Microsoft Reins in RoguePlanet Zero-Day Threat

Microsoft fixed the RoguePlanet zero-day in Microsoft Defender, tracked as CVE-2026-50656, via an update to the Malware Protection Engine. Researcher Nightmare Eclipse published proof-of-concept exploit code in June, claiming the race condition bug could grant SYSTEM privileges on fully patched Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems.
