Meta has agreed to report child sexual abuse material (CSAM) cases directly to Indian law enforcement, government sources said on September 15. Previously, reports went through the US-based NCMEC to India's cybercrime portal. The new arrangement follows a BBC Eye investigation and a summons from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Meta stated it already reports such cases and helped establish the existing NCMEC channel in 2019.
