China Unveils Safety Standards for Autonomous Driving Systems

China released mandatory national safety standards for Level 3 and Level 4 autonomous driving systems in M- and N-category vehicles. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced them August 4; they take effect July 1, 2027. Automated parking systems are excluded.
