China Draft Drops Half Steering Wheel Rules

China's MIIT published a draft mandatory standard GB 11557-202X that removes all technical definitions, testing methods, and compliance rules for half steering wheel designs. The standard takes effect January 1, 2027. Some new energy vehicles had adopted the Formula One-inspired design, which critics say lacks an upper grip point for safe handling.
