NHTSA demands AV firms fix first responder interference

NHTSA Administrator Jonathan Morrison issued a directive Wednesday calling a pattern of driverless cars interfering with first responders unacceptable. The agency documented incidents where autonomous vehicles drove into emergency scenes, blocked ambulances and firefighters, and failed to respond to flashing lights, flares, and traffic cones. Morrison demanded developers present solutions by the end of July.
