Pentagon Seeks $30.3M for AI Lie Detector

The Pentagon's Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency wants $30.3m over five years for an AI lie detector called Polygraph+, starting with $6.42m in 2027. The system would use standoff sensing, AI scoring and automated decision aids to vet staff and detect insider threats. Congress has not approved the request, and experts question whether polygraph accuracy, estimated at 80% to 94%, can support such screening.
