A Vintage, Last-of-Its-Kind Aircraft Will Launch NASA's Swift Rescue Mission

NASA will launch a rescue mission on June 27 using the Lockheed L-1011 Stargazer, the world's last flying mothership of its kind. The aircraft will carry a Pegasus XL rocket carrying a Katalyst Space servicing spacecraft to boost the sinking Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, which has a 50% chance of uncontrolled reentry by mid-2026.
