Ericsson Plans Drone Tracking via Mobile Networks

Ericsson is developing Integrated Sensing and Communication technology to track drones using existing cellular infrastructure. The company plans to begin limited commercial trials in 2027 before expanding availability to additional customers during 2028. Tests by AT&T and Erillisverkot successfully identified multiple drones, though the system requires specialized Massive MIMO antennas and software rather than functioning automatically on every network.
