Stellantis Patents EV System to Drop Faulty Battery

Stellantis patented a system allowing an electric vehicle to physically disconnect its high-voltage battery pack during emergencies like overheating or fire. The vehicle can then use a low-voltage battery to drive away from the dangerous pack, offering a novel safety response to thermal events.
