White House enlists private hackers to fight cybercrime

The White House will contract American businesses to combat transnational criminal organizations, per an Aug. 12 presidential memoranda. The National Coordination Center, with the Justice and Homeland Security departments, will vet and authorize private cyber surveillance and effects operations. Private hacking must still comply with the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
